Do ETFs have minimum investments?
Usually the minimum is the price of one share, though fractional shares depend on your broker.
February 17, 2026
Most ETFs don't have a fund-level minimum investment the way some mutual funds do. In practice, your minimum is usually the cost of one ETF share.
Many brokers now support fractional shares for certain ETFs, which can lower the effective minimum even further. Availability varies by platform and ETF.
If you're investing small amounts regularly, fractional investing can help, but it's still worth watching spreads and fees. With very small trades, a wide spread can be a surprisingly large percentage of your investment.
