Are ETFs FDIC insured?

No. FDIC insurance applies to bank deposits, not ETF investments.

February 17, 2026

FDIC insurance applies to certain bank deposits, like checking and savings accounts, up to coverage limits. ETFs are investments, not bank deposits, so they aren't FDIC insured.

If your broker offers a cash sweep program into insured bank deposits, that cash portion may be FDIC insured, but the ETF holdings are not.

If someone is pitching an "FDIC insured ETF," treat that as a red flag and look closely at what's actually being described. Standard ETFs carry market risk and can lose value.
